Gov. Sarah Palin Son Track to Deploy To Iraq

Now 19, Private First Class Palin enlisted last year and is assigned to the 1st Stryker Brigade's Delta company. That's in Palin's home state. The Army says his being posted there was luck of the draw.

1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team

“He’s just like any other infantry soldier here,” said Army Col. Burt Thompson, who heads the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. “He tries to remain as anonymous as he possibly can.”

In military parlance, Palin is a “dismount.” He and other soldiers operate armored vehicles called Strykers. Their job is to ensure brigade commanders and their communications remain protected as they move around the country. The Stryker is an eight-wheeled truck that weighs 19 tons. “They’re the secret service for the brigade commander,” said brigade spokesman Maj. Chris Hyde.

Republican vice presidential candidate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is escorted by Col. Edward Daly, deputy commander of the U.S. Army in Alaska, after she spoke to the troops and families during a deployment ceremony for the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008. Palin's son Track Palin is a member of the brigade being deployed to Iraq.

Wild Thing's comment...........

Adding Track and the entire Palin family to my prayers and 1st Stryker Brigade. God bless each one of them and protect them.

My prayers are with him and the family also. And with the rest of his fellow troops and their families. I just got an e-mail from a friend whose son just returned from his 2nd tour in Iraq with the marines. She got a call at 1:45 AM on 9/10 that he was stateside. They will see him this weekend. God bless all of our troops.

I watched Jay Leno last night and he joked about Gov. Palin going back to Alaska. Not once did he say the reason why; her son's deployment. All his political jokes are about McCain, Palin, and Hillary but no jokes about Obama.

My prayers are also with Track and all other troops and their families.

BTW, Biden's son is also deploying to Iraq. But not as an infantryman like Track. Biden is a JAG lawyer. I will withhold further comment on that.

God bless Track and all the troops. The 25th Infantry has a long honorable heritage, “Tropic Lightning” is deploying from Fairbanks. I don't watch the networks or their news, I barely stop at CNN and even gag sometimes on Fox news. When the SAT TV box died last week it was tough to buy a new one, I did so out of self defense, that's how bad programming really is. It's seldom anything positive, it's all about desperate brainwashing, pushing the left's agenda or porn and violence, I'm no prude but it's just like this event, as Bob illustrated, often twisted by the mass media to elicit some form of gossip as to why Palin went home, aimed at personal attacks and never a truthful statement about real human events. No thanks to the Bill Maher's of the media either, not a shred of decency there. Thanks WT. You bring the truth.

Watching this proud and, yes, vulnerable mother, confident governor, accomplished executive, attractive and feminine candidate for VP, and overall nice and caring person it is easy to see why Barack Hussein Obama, the Dems, and the MSM are crapping in their collective pants and pants suits.

All the best to the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division and their comrades in arms in Iraq and Afghanistan. Be safe and sound and return in good health to your families and a grateful country.

She is just a class act.

As Les says, the Obama ilk are crapping in their pants. They don't know how to deal with someone who is forthright, honest, and outstanding character.

Bob, oh wow that gave me goosebumps. How wonderful! Thank you for sharing about that and I am happy for both of them. He will love being home again and she will be thrilled to see him too.

BobF, sheesh what a jerk Leno is, he certainly could have said why. By doing what he did he also snubbed our miltiary. grrrrrrrr

Nicholas told me that Lettermen is even worse that he has made fun or and put down Bush every single night since Bush has been President. He has not missed one time.

So much hate from the left just amazes me.

Tom, thanks from me too, prayers for Track.

Yes I am not a big fan of Jag Lawyers. I liked the TV show that had a couple of years ago called JAG, but that is a TV show and not reality. I liked it only because I like military shows if they have them. The one called " The Unit" is ten times better.

Jack thank you.

It is very hard a lot of the time to watch the political shows. I told Nicholas once we didn't have to and he said no he liked to yell back at the TV and tell them off. hahaa

Like you said even Fox can get my blood boiling.

Les, love how you put this.

"Watching this proud and, yes, vulnerable mother, confident governor, accomplished executive, attractive and feminine candidate for VP, and overall nice and caring person it is easy to see why Barack Hussein Obama, the Dems, and the MSM are crapping in their collective pants and pants suits."

Mark I agree the left really can't stand for someone to be a genuine good person. It reminds them how much they are not.
