5th Grader Suspended For Anti-Obama Shirt

5th Grader Suspended For Anti-Obama Shirt

My Fox Colorado

AURORA (MyFOXColorado.com) - An 11-year-old in Aurora says his first amendment rights are being trampled after he was suspended for wearing a homemade shirt that reads "Obama is a terrorist's best friend."

The fifth grader at Aurora Frontier K-8 School wore it on a day when students were asked to wear red, white and blue to show their patriotism.

The boy's father Dann Dalton describes himself as a "proud conservative" who has taken part in some controversial anti-abortion protests. Dalton says the school made a major mistake by suspending his son for wearing the shirt.

"It's the public school system," Dalton says. "Let's be honest, it's full of liberal loons."

According the the boy's father, the school district told the student, Daxx Dalton, that he had the choice of changing his shirt, turning his shirt inside out or being suspended.

Daxx chose suspension.

"They're taking away my right of freedom of speech," he says. "If I have the right to wear this shirt I'm going to use it. And if the only way to use it is get suspended, then I'm going to get suspended."

Daxx's dad agrees with him and is encouraging his son to stand his ground. "The facts are his rights were violated. Period."

Aurora Public Schools would not talk about the case but said the district "Respects a student's right to free speech, such as the right to wear specific clothing," but administrators say they review any situation that interrupts the learning environment.

Paperwork submitted by the school district says Daxx Dalton was not suspended for wearing the shirt, but for willful disobedience and defiance.

The boy's father says he intends to pursue a lawsuit against the district.

Now let's contrast this to the story above:

LANSDALE, Pa., Dec. 13, 2005

CBS news

A Pennsylvania student is off the hook after the American Civil Liberties Union defended his right to wear a political T-shirt to school.

Chris Schiano's T-shirt said "International Terrorist" and had a picture of President Bush.

A security guard at his high school north of Philadelphia told him to take it off. He refused.

Schiano says he's well versed in the First Amendment. He says he "knew right off they had no legal footing to stand on."

The principal says after hearing from the ACLU, school officials realized that the shirt, while potentially offensive, didn't violate the school's dress code. It had no references to sex, drugs, ethnic intimidation or explicit language.

Schiano says he's now wearing the shirt to school and no one's given him a hard time.

In February 2003, school officials ordered a 16-year-old in Michigan to either take off a T-shirt emblazoned with the words "International Terrorist" and a picture of President Bush or go home, saying they worried it would inflame passions at the school where a majority of students are Arab-American.

The student, Bretton Barber, chose to go home. He said he wore the shirt to express his anti-war position and for a class assignment in which he wrote a compare-contrast essay on Mr. Bush and Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Wild Thing's comment..............

Obama has been endorsed by Hamas, Hezbollah, Farrakhan, Ahmedinijad, and Castro. And he is a close associate of his (Ayers) bombed the Pentagon while a member of a terrorist organization.

The writing on the kid’s T-shirt is entirely accurate.

So do you think the ACLU will come stand up for this kids rights, like they did the second story?

....Thank you Mark for sending this to me.

Not for this kid, it doesn't fit the Communist agenda founded by Roger Baldwin and Crystal Eastman and adhered to by virtually all lawyers. The First Amendment only applies to the left as demonstrated every day in the media. If the target is a Democrat kill the bastard if the target is a Republican award them a scholarship, isn't that what this election is all about? The freedom of the left to do as they please.

I can't add to Jack's 100% accurate comment. The ACLU is totally biased in favor of leftist causes.

Well hopefully this kid gets a good Lawyer, he'll need it against these nitwits.

The ACLU pick and chooses who they will protect and in most cases it sides with the communist party. If it were up to me, everyone of those toe tag libturds would be dangling from a noose.
