Chicken Obama Terrified Of Townhall Meetings With McCain

Obama Agrees to Three Presidential Debates, No Town-Halls

In a letter [reproduced below] to the Commission on Presidential Debates, Barack Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe has agreed to three presidential debates and one vice-presidential debate.

The McCain campaign has called on Obama to hold interactive town-hall style events around the country. Obama has not agreed to any such events.

August 2, 2008 Mr. Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr. Mr. Paul G. Kirk, Jr. Commission on Presidential Debates 1200 New Hampshire Avenue, N.W. Suite 445

Washington, D.C. 20036

Dear Chairmen Kirk and Fahrenkopf:

I am writing on behalf of Senator Obama to accept the Commission on Presidential Debates’ framework for three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate to be held in September and October. Senator Obama has designated Congressman Rahm Emanuel as our representative to meet with the Commission and the McCain campaign to review the specifics of the Commission’s proposal, discuss any requested changes to that proposal, and resolve any issues left open by the Commission’s framework. We will make our representative available at the earliest convenience of the Commission and the McCain campaign.

Due to the late date of the two parties’ nominating conventions, and the relatively short period between the end of the conventions and the first proposed debate, it is likely that the four Commission debates will be the sole series of debates in the fall campaign. Consequently, we believe that finalizing the arrangements for these debates with promptness and certainty is in the interests of both campaigns and the American people.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

David Plouffe
Campaign Manager

Wild Thing's comment........

Townhall meetings are not a controlled environment. Anything goes and who knows what questions would be asked. Obama knows that the "media" will feed him the questions prior to their "debates" in order to give him time to prepare. Obama doesn't think well on his feet. He's going to need to know the questions ahead of time so he can rehearse his answers.

He’s a coward. I hope the GOP runs an ad that says “Barack Obama is too afraid to participate in town halls with John McCain. How can we trust him to defend America?”

That's why he's backing out--he doesn't like free for alls. He might get asked a question that he can't or doesn't like answering. Sounds like a kid who won't eat his spinach at supper, doesn't it?
I want to see how he negotiates this type of forum. Let's see how strong his resolve really is. He knows we'll just see right through his thin veil of lies, deceit and corruption.

The MSM controls the debates and questions asked. In the debates, Obama will be able to have first hand knowledge of the questions which will be asked, thus allowing him to prepare answers.

In Townhall Meetings, Obama and his minions, the MSM, have no way of controlling what questions will be asked. It's well known Obama can't answer anything that isn't scripted and rehearsed.

Precisely WT, he's a media made whore and he can't think for himself, all he can do is espouse his hatred for the United States and the desire to turn this nation into another Somalia with him as our Robert Mugabe style dictator. Think of the well, uh, um, eh, uh, uh, uh response he'll give under crisis, his will be real unlike that which the media portrayed of Bush on 9/11.

The townhall meetings should be interesting, depending on where they will be held and who is allowed to ask questions. I doubt they will be at truckstops or on military bases.

I hope the questions will require thoughtful involved answers and not just canned answers. It could be that neither candidate shines, but Obama will probably sound a lot less "messiah" like.

"media made whore"

Tom, yes the Townhall meetings would be interesting. I hope Obama changes his mind and decides to do them.

Posted by: Wild Thing at August 3, 2008 07:32 PM

Chief, I agree so much, yes Military Vets are the best at thinking fast and knowing what they believe in and saying it. I love it.

Posted by: Wild Thing at August 3, 2008 07:35 PM

Bob, see that is the thing too. Obama is brainless and he would have to have a script to meet with foreign leaders, oh my gosh can you imagine how awful and rude that would be.

Posted by: Wild Thing at August 3, 2008 07:36 PM

Mark, so he has changed his mind haha. What a total jerk he is, he is getting hard to follow. He says one thing then another. But his commie and marxists guts never change.

This is the perfect opportunity for John McCain to taunt Barack Obama each and every day everyplace that he goes calling him a coward for not joining him in Townhall meetings all over the country. McCain should offer Ft. Hood as the first Townhall meeting site showing respect for the military and letting them question the men, one of which, will be the next Commander-in-Chief.

I'd like to see B. Hussein Obama try to weasel out of that one. If he is afraid to face John McCain and the public in Townhall meetings what else is he afraid of? Meeting with foreign leaders who disagree with him?

I said this weeks ago WT... Obamessiah went to Europe and the Middle East to avoid debating McCain, virtually running out the game clock knowing fully well the Olympics are coming up, then the DSP and GOPher National Conventions... That is why you should "Never estimate the power of the RIGHT side!!!" Team Theodore is pure GENIUS, eh? Schedule Cindy and Michelle in a bathing suit jello pit wrestling event...
