Gen. Petraeus and Independence Day Re-Enlistment Ceremony in Iraq

In Baghdad, General David Petraeus administered the oath of re-enlistment to over 1200 soldiers, Marines, sailors and airmen in Al-Faw Palace, one of Saddam Hussein’s former cribs. This was possibly the largest re-enlistment ceremony in the history of our all-volunteer military.

Army Command Sgt. Maj. Marvin L. Hill: These warriors are doing what they joined to do … They can see the fruit of their labor and see the fruit of the sacrifices of those who have gone before them. It makes them feel good about what they are doing.”

DOD

A 50-gun salute will honor of the nation’s birthday, and then all will sing “God Bless America.” The ceremony will end with a medley of service songs. [All of that inside one of Saddam Hussein’s former palaces!!

US soldiers from various branches of the military stand at attention during a mass reenlistment ceremony at the Al-Faw Palace, one of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein's main palaces, in Baghdad on July 4, 2008. More than 1,200 US service members took a reenlisment oath on the 4th of July, the anniversary of US independence, led by top commander in Iraq General David Petraeus.

FANTASTIC!!!!!!
With all the horrible rhetoric the media and the left have been saying about our kids, they STILL want to work for Uncle Sam.
I like seeing this.
Our kids are something special. We MUST have done something good raising them.

With all the hype by Code-pinko et-ilk, it must really frost them to see so many soldiers re-enlisting like this not only re-enlisting but in a War Zone at that.

It seems like there is no problem with marale and the few malcontents making headlines are few and far between and only found by the media turning over every moss covered rock to find some miscreant who doesn't like the Military or just wants to smear it for their own benefit.

This is good news indeed. Hopefully all of their votes get counted.

Hopefully, the country doesn't let these honorable, patriotic, and brave troops down by electing BHO their Commander-in-Chief.

Awesome!!! Things like this didn't happen under Carter or Clinton, just the opposite, troops were clamoring to leave their leaderless regimes. The sting of Code Pink's failure has to smart, Fred Phelps can bring them into the fold where they'd fit right in.

I'd expect the same mass exodus under Obama as that of Carter and Clinton, who treated the troops as disposable pawns in a reckless game played by the leaders.

True patriots look beyond what's good for them for the moment and sacrifice for the future ~ sometimes it's the ultimate sacrifice.

An example of which was set by Casey Sheehan who perished while serving his country, an adult volunteer, unswayed by his mother's pacifist beliefs, only to be betrayed in death by his own mother who was willingly used by the Code Pinko's. Rest in Peace Casey. At least Cindy had the common decency of realizing she had been used and her honor had been diminished as a result of her behavior but her parting statement speaks for all the leftists.

"Good-bye America ... you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can’t make you be that country unless you want it." Cindy Sheehan

Thank you all service members, most of all thank you, their families.

Lynn, yes I really love the hearts of our troops. They hear the same things we do from the left and yet they manage to keep their morale up and I pray they always know how much we all support them 100% and to ignore the left and what they say.

Mark, giggle I bet Code pinkos can't watch a video like this and not scream at it. haha

God bless these awesome Americans serving our country. I think your right about their morale too.

Their voting is the only thing I stay concerned about, that every one of their votes gets counted.

Les, I agree I pray that every day.
