Missing Laura Ingraham? I Sure Am

Laura Ingraham Receives 'WOMAN OF THE YEAR' AWARD

Here is her website for her radio show

JUst a few snipets from her speech she gave with her personal reflections on her 12 year journey in radio and television.

Full text

"Tonight I want to express my gratitude to Michael Harrison and everyone at Talkers who keep this industry informed and on its toes month after month with humor and substance. I also want to thank Mark Masters and the folks at Talk Radio Network who believed in my radio vision five years ago when few others did. My gratitude also goes out to my producers, including Tom Elliott who is here today, as well as the radio giants such as Rush, Don Imus, Sean Hannity and Phil Boyce who gave me great support along the way. "
"As for me, I am humbled and privileged to lead a radio show where I put my mind and heart on the line every day."
"Of course when I think of women who had their share of detractors but who always held firm in their core principles and transformed the world, I think of Margaret Thatcher. "
"As President Reagan said to me the day I walked out of the Oval Office for the last time as a young 20-something, "Make it matter."
"I intend on doing just that for years to come on the airwaves. And I thank you for the encouragement of this honor and I promise to make you proud. "

Shortly after she received the above award she was taken OFF the air

Popular radio talk show host Laura Ingraham has been taken off the air with no explanation.

Laura's show is one of the top five most popular talk radio shows in the nation. Laura is a solid conservative voice on the air.

She is gone with no explanation. All anyone knows is that it is not her choice.

If radio networks can yank a conservative voice who is that popular, they can do it to Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity or anyone else.

Liberals are again agitating to shut down conservative talk radio. They have been pushing "diversity" regulations through the FCC to do just that. Taking out Laura Ingraham is just a step along the way toward shutting down conservative talk radio totally.

Here is a station guide for Laura Ingraham. Please call your local affiliate and tell the station you want Laura Ingraham back on the Laura Ingraham show.

You can stop liberals from shutting down talk radio by standing up for Laura Ingraham.

Sincerely yours,

Erick Erickson

Wild Thing's comment.........

Liberal leaders are pushing the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” to silence conservative leaders like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin and Laura Ingraham. Their goal is clear -- silence conservative speech over the radio airwaves.

It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine.” -- Sen. Dick Durbin
"In my view, talk radio tends to be one-sided. It also tends to be dwelling in hyperbole. It's explosive. It pushes people to, I think, extreme views without a lot of information…. I’m looking at [the Fairness Doctrine]…. Unfortunately, talk radio is overwhelmingly one way.” --Sen. Dianne Feinstein
"I think the Fairness Doctrine ought to be there ... One of the most profound changes in the balance of the media was when the conservatives got rid of equal time requirements. The result is that they've been able to squeeze down and squeeze out opinion of opposing views." -- Sen. John Kerry

This below is from the PDF file about the Fairness Doctrine. It is a long document, well worth reading, but here is just a snipet.

Political activists and even certain U.S. senators have argued that the federal government should reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine, which would require broadcasters to air both sides of controversial issues. Opponents charge that Fairness Doctrine advocates are trying to reduce the impact of conservative talk radio.

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) has introduced The Broadcaster Freedom Act (HR 2905), which would bar the Federal Communications Commission from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine.

The controversy touches on America’s most fundamental civic values. Do we still cherish freedom of speech, or are some of us succumbing to the tyrannical impulse to stifle the speech of political adversaries? Do our leaders trust us to accept responsibility to govern ourselves, or do they wish to control which information we receive?

Three principal arguments support resurrecting the Fairness Doctrine. First, the “scarcity” argument holds that the airwaves are public property with a limited number of broadcast frequencies, so government can and should intervene if the public debate is out of balance.

Second, the “censorship” argument holds that major corporations are muzzling liberal opinion on the radio, so Americans are not hearing both sides of issues.

Third, the “public interest” argument holds that the Fairness Doctrine would increase the amount and variety of opinions available to the public.

....Thank you Mark.

Comments

My local station in the LA area is KRLA and I will be contacting them via phone and e-mail this afternoon. I will demand an explanation or refuse to listen to that station for eternity.

Damn I'm really gettin pissed

The fairness doctrine is crap and if it does pass then it should be followed through with television as all news channels with the exception of Fox are liberal based and they should have to split their time with the conservative side of issues as well.....Let's see controlling the airwaves isn't that something they do in other countries that are run by dictatorships? Again Unbelievable

Cuchieddie, thank you. I did it too, she has been off for I think two weeks now.

Laura is from Glastonbury, CT - one of the little suburbs of Hartford that gentrified, and is now full of precious libs. Her mother worked as a waitress at the Golden Goblet Cafe, which has disappeared under a shopping center. Even CT can produce a fine, smart conservative like Laura.

I haven't been able to listen to her program lately, but the last time I did (a month ago?) Tammy Bruce was sitting in. Tammy is not Laura, but she isn't a pushover either.

I wondered if Laura was sick again.

Dennis, your so right, that is just exactly what they do in other countries, not so nice third world countries.

Posted by: Wild Thing at June 13, 2008 06:07 PM

Rhod, she was on Fox news last night and said she feels great. She said the only thing she is allowed to say about what is going on is that her coming back on is being discussed and she is not allowed to say anything else about it.

Thank you so much for sharing about where she is from and her mom.

OH and one other thing Laura said was she is just hoping and praying every day she can do talk radio again. This was all said on the O'Reilly show.

This is puzzleing, it's not like she's a Don Imus or some kookball, like Franken on the Radio. She's usually straight forward and shoots from the hip and above board and more than fair. So why the change ?

Unless this is a trial balloon. Go after the weakest link, namely, the lesser of the big Talk Show hosts. To see what kind of waves it generates. The left would just love to shut Rush and Hannity down. Maybe this is the first salvo fired at the Conservatives. The Left knows full well the Rino RNC won't lift a finger to defend them.

Laura Ingraham has/will not talked about it, and that sounds strange. Like their are lawyers involved.

Good luck to her.

WT, thanks for the story. I listened to Laura on rebroadcast from 10 PM to 1 AM on WABC 770 New York Talk Radio. Laura Ingraham is the best. She is intelligent, talented, effective, beautiful, and a conservative. What more can a guy want? I love Laura Ingraham.

Let's hope that this is just a contractual bump in the road and that Laura will be back soon in HER talk radio timeslot. We need her.

If this is a first salvo of anything to do with the "unfairness" doctrine then we are in deep trouble. My prayers are with Laura Ingraham as she is one of the truly good people.

SHE IS ON FOX NEWS TONIGHT (FRIDAY) ALSO ON O'REILLY'S SLOT- I DON'T SEE HIM- ONLY HER-

Posted by: cheryl at June 13, 2008 08:34 PM

I can't believe this! I listen to Laura every weekday during my lunchbreak and I just came back from a week-long vacation to discover that she's...GONE?? I'm both astounded and upset. Maybe it's temporary?

Posted by: Brittany at June 13, 2008 09:42 PM

Mark, I don't understand either. Yes that is the feeling I get too. Like lawyers are involved and she has been told to not talk about it till it is resolved or a contract is agreed on.

I miss her but I also am glad she is healthy and ok after all she has been through. I sure will be glad when she is back on the air.

Glad she has a TV slot and I hope it goes well.

Les, I agree, we need her. I would hate to see any of our conservative talk show people taken off the air. She is awesome, works very hard and does a great job.

Posted by: Wild Thing at June 13, 2008 11:36 PM

Cheryl, thanks so much, I got to see it tonight.

Posted by: Wild Thing at June 13, 2008 11:39 PM

Brittany, she has been off the show for a couple of weeks now.
We all hope she will be back on radio soon.

I watched this patriette's original TV show on MSNBC or CNBC years AGO. They canned her too. Laura is a success wherever she goes and will continue to be a success. BUT why the SECRECY? Her fans deserve an explanation... from Laura.
"HAPPY FLAG DAY and that ragged old flag is STILL a grand old flag and forever in war and peace may she wave. She's the emblem of, the land I love - the home of the free and the brave...!"

Darth, Happy Flag Day to you too. Thank you!
