McCain Tells Off NC Republican Party Regarding Ad

WASHINGTON

Reuters

Republican U.S. presidential candidate John McCain accused North Carolina's Republican Party of being "out of touch with reality" over its refusal to pull an advertisement criticizing Democrat Barack Obama.

In an NBC interview aired on Friday, the Arizona senator said he has done all he can to persuade the state party to cancel the television ad that criticizes Obama as "too extreme" because of controversial remarks made by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

"They're not listening to me because they're out of touch with reality and the Republican Party. We are the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan and this kind of campaigning is unacceptable," McCain told NBC's "Today" Show.
"I've done everything that I can to repudiate and to see that this kind of campaigning does not continue," he added.
Asked if the state party's unwillingness to heed his call raised questions about his leadership, McCain replied: "I don't know exactly how to respond to that."

North Carolina is one of two states holding the next crucial Democratic primaries on May 6 in the tight race between Obama and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton to oppose McCain in the November presidential election.

But the state party served notice that the ad would air.

Wild Thing's comment........

McCain is the one who is " out of touch with reality" !!!!!

McCain is SUCH a Jackass! Doesn't he know that Lincoln JAILED the Copperhead Democrats who were trying to sabotage the war effort????? Lincoln certainly didn't worry about "respecting" his political enemies. He crushed them!

I think that lady from the North Carolina GOP (Linda Danes?) should run in McCain’s place—she seems to have more of a set than he does.

That he is. His true colors are showing more and more every day.
He may be a war hero, but so was Benedict Arnold.
Since he knows he has the GOP race locked up, he's acting all high and mighty and better than everyone else.
Just because you're a hero, doesn't make you the best for the job.
He doesn't have America at heart anymore.

John McCain says that the North Carolina GOP is "out of touch with reality and the Republican Party". Well, Sen. McCain, come next November you and the Republican Party will be out of touch with the presidency. You are either a fool or an idiot. However, listening to you speak you are probably both.

He was doing great as long as he kept his mouth shut. Now, he just shot himself in the foot with this latest tirade against North Carolina, this is the dumbest thing he has done in a long time.

On Rush today, the People in NC are Pissed and with good reason. It is a shame there is nothing wrong with the ad. Well perhaps we can change the Congress. Because all three candidates 'Stink'.

As Conservatives we don't have a party.

Lynn....."He doesn't have America at heart anymore"....he sure doesn't.

It is so disappointing, with his being a war hero, and in poliltics he could have been such an awesome powerful leader instead of a weak person wanting to be more of a dem then a Republican.

Les, thanks for the link. Yes he very well could find himself NOT winning with these antics and attitude and his attacks on conservatives nonstop.

Now, maybe people will understand the long standing rumors about Mr. Lets Make a Deal.
Is McCain being black-mailed by the Communist Vietnamese? We could ask Trung Hieu, a former North Vietnamese Army photographer about a nearly intact B-52 bomber, which was shot down at the edge of an air field near Hanoi in December 1972. He said the North Vietnamese traded the B-52 and some of its surviving crew members to the Soviets for three MIG-23 jet interceptors. Trung said the Soviets wanted to interrogate the crew about U.S. electronic warfare. McCain, who was a member of the 1992 Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs, argued emotionally during the hearings that "none of the returned U.S. prisoners of war released by Vietnam were ever interrogated by the Soviets."
McCain warmly embraced Bui Tin, one of McCain's former interrogators, as if he were a long lost brother.
What about Viet Cong leader Vo Van Kiet, Vietnam's prime minister and McCain's friend, who gave orders to kill POW Capt. Rocky Versace. McCain doesn't talk about Capt. Rocky Versace, from Norfolk, VA., or Sgt. Kenneth Roraback of Fayetteville, N.C., or Army Sgt. Harold Bennett of Perryville, Ark., who were all ordered executed by his friend, "BUTCHER" Kiet. Is this the caliber of hero you want for president?

Jack, no it is not. I remember well one of the POW's, POW Capt. Rocky Versace. I wrote a paper on him and felt like I knew him even before I was done writing and researching him.

Thanks Jack and yes you absolutely right.
