Death To The Emeny From The Sky

Genghis Khan: The Greatest Happiness is to scatter your enemy and drive him before you. To see his cities reduced to ashes. To see those who love him shrouded and in tears.

Baghdad soldiers killed 12 criminals after a small arms and rocket-propelled grenade attack in northern Baghdad March 30.

At approximately 1 a.m., a 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division patrol was attacked, and Soldiers pursued the criminals as they fled.

An air weapons team arrived on scene to provide support. After positively identifying the attackers, the air weapons team engaged and killed the 12 individuals.

“We are exercising great effort to protect the people of Baghdad,” said Lt. Col. Steve Stover, MND-B spokesman. “We are only targeting criminals and those acting outside the rule of law. We will continue to defend ourselves and the citizens of Baghdad.”

Baghdad Soldiers killed eight criminals in separate operations late March 29 and early March 30.

While on patrol in northeast Baghdad, Soldiers from 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment encountered and engaged a three-man rocket-propelled grenade team, killing all three.

MND-B Soldiers later came under fire by a three-man gun team on a nearby rooftop. The soldiers returned fire in self-defense and killed the three criminals.

While manning a checkpoint in Kadhamiyah, soldiers from 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment were attacked and called in a an Apache air weapons team for support. The air weapons team fired two Hellfire missiles and killed two.

“These criminals show how little they regard the lives of innocent Iraqis,” said Col. Allen Batschelet, chief of staff, MND-B. “We will continue, along with our Iraqi Security Force partners, to target individual criminals, criminal networks and anyone involved in violent crimes ignoring al-Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr’s ceasefire pledge.”

Soldiers kill 25 criminals

Multi National Forces

Baghdad Soldiers killed 25 criminals in eastern Baghdad March 30.

Soldiers from 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, were traveling in a combat patrol to investigate a possible point of origin for an indirect fire attack when their Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.

Immediately after the IED attack, Soldiers discovered a second IED in the area and attempted to secure it.

While attempting to secure the IED, they were attacked with indirect fire, rocket propelled grenades and small-arms fire from a house in the vicinity of the IED strike.

An aerial weapons team was called in to support the Soldiers on the ground. A mortar team was spotted on the roof of the house where the attack was coming from, and the AWT defended the Soldiers on the ground and killed 25 criminals.

One Soldier was injured in the IED attack.

“We will defend ourselves when attacked by armed criminals,” said Lt. Col. Steven Stover, MND-B spokesman. “We are not the aggressors, but we will defend ourselves and the Iraqi people with all resources available to us.”

Wild Thing's comment........

" criminals "

Criminals? Ah that is one way to refer to them I guess, I can think of better ones though.

This must be how they are calling it now.

terrorist = al-Qaeda or Taliban
criminals = Moktada al-Sadar’s Madhi Militia

Genghis killed because Genghis loved to kill.
But we do have to defend ourselves--do you think we
like to see our kids hurt by those terrorists who would have their own country in a Civil War?

I don't care that much what we call them. As long as we kill them! Keep up the good work troopers.

This isn't easy to say, some readers here will understand, some will not.
I've been accused of being a hard headed realist, so be it. One of the truths of war is that day of reckoning when you realize that the enemy is out to kill you, not that guy next to you but you and that guy next to you.

That epiphany takes the varnish of propriety off, removes that inhibition of religious and moral imperatives that according to Judeo-Christian tradition, were written by God and given to Moses, more precisely Exodus 20:2–17 and Deuteronomy 5:6–21 of the decalogue, specifically the 6th commandment.
Once reconciled that your personal survival, the survival of the person next to you and on up the line of humanity to the survival of mankind itself depends on your willingness to kill to protect that will to survive, only then will you understand what it means to be free in a free society and what costs must be paid to maintain that freedom.

Our enemies all across the world know of our reluctance to break that one commandment and they use it as a tool to butcher us, en masse, at times. Without the instinct to protect our own there is no need to band together for common good of; defense, shelter, food gathering or learning. Without our civility we are no better than the nomadic tribes preying upon the next tribe to take what they have taken, just as the peoples of the desert, the difference is they kill for the love of killing and do it under the guise of religious commandment.

We instead now rely on the false promise of security proffered by the fallable foibles of that Godless Communist and now Islamist infested cancerous canker sore, that carbuncle world known as the United Nations.

Until the rest of the nation becomes as hardened to the realities of war as that seasoned soldier and what it takes to stay free we are in grave peril as a nation. We need to lift the cloak of political correctness and take no prisoners by making them fear the thought of attacking an America. Well done troops and well done WT.

It is amazing that Americans volenteer to serve in Afganistan and Iraq and other places, to put their lives on the line so that other people can choose their government with votes instead of guns. Show me one mulsim willing to do that for strangers in a strange land and I'll show you some one who deserves to be babtized by the pope.

Lynn, yes and that is a huge difference. We kill to defend ourselves or those we are to protect.

Tom, I agree. My favorite name to call the enemy is DEAD. heh heh Our troops did so great.

Posted by: Wild Thing at March 31, 2008 07:58 PM

Jack I agree 10000% with what you said.

That one thing, is what the enemy uses against us. It has gotten many of our guys killed, captured, and slaughtered in horrible ways.

Many times I have heard when the heat is on, it is not apple pie, home, even family and loved ones back home. It is that soldiers life, and the buddy next to him that need to survive, stay alive and fight back with all they have in them. I am absolutely for that and understand totally. I am glad they feel like that, how else can they dig down inside themselves and do what has to be done when life and death face them up close and personal.

Thanks Jack.
