Maria Shriver -- wife of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and a member of the powerful Kennedy political clan -- on Sunday endorsed Barack Obama for US president, just days after her former-actor husband backed Republican John McCain.
"The more I thought about it, I thought, you know, if Barack Obama was a state, he'd be California," Shriver said to cheers at a rally held at the University of California for the Democratic presidential contender.

"I mean, think about it: diverse, open, smart, independent, bucks tradition, innovative, inspiring, dreamer, leader!" said Shriver, a member of America's foremost political dynasty.

The celebrity-packed rally was also attended by US talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, Shriver's cousin Caroline Kennedy who is the daughter of slain president John F. Kennedy, Obama's wife Michelle, and pop music legend Stevie Wonder.

The California first lady added that Obama "is about the power of us, and what we can do when we come together. Because as everybody up here has said, there is much more that unites us than divides us.

"He is about empowering women, African-Americans, Latinos, older people, young people. He's about empowering all of us."

Wild Thing's comment.........

The Kennedy's trying to hitch their wagon to a so called rising star in hopes of staying relevant!

Massachusetts Kennedys are for Obama, New York Kennedys are “forced” to be for “new” New York grifters and carpetbaggers Clintons.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is for yet another liberal - McCain.

No, Obamanation is NOT for empowering women!
He'll take us women back to the 19th century when we had no rights. We were "property" of our husbands.
I don't want to go back there.
I want my daughters to choose for themselves whether they want to get married, have babies and a career.
I have one who wants to be a drama teacher and one who wants to be a stay at home mom. It's their choice, not mine. And the government needs to get it's greedy paws out of my life!
No, Obamanation, you will NOT win.

I don't care about celebrity endorsements. They are selling themselves first.

It looks like empowerment for everyone except those that make this country function.

Is she ugly or what? Is she another kennedy who had a lobotomy. I wonder if Arnold puts a bag over her head... 'Ahhhh thats not nice.' But enquiring minds want to know.

Darth they sure do. They both have the extreme hard square jaw and she has the genes of Eunice which is not something any girl would want believe me. Bad skin that ages very fast.

Lynn, I am so glad to know you. What a wonderful mom you are and friend too. I love how you are with your children. You raised them.... taught them about right and wrong and the important things about life and our country, and because you have guided them in such great way they are going to be wonderful adults too.

Tom,exactly, celebrities are a rare breed. Most, not all, but most want to get their name on the band wagon of what is popular. Few could even discuss the issues or what is going on in this country.

The more Dem celebrities and politicos that support Barack Hussein Obama and kick the Clintons in the ass the better. Hopefully, enough of the partisans on both sides will be pissed off enough to not support the other in a general election. The Democratic Convention next August could be the 2008 version of the old TV show, The Addams Family.

The lyrics about a witch's shawl and a broomstick are quite appropriate for Hillary Clinton.
