Schumer Has Gone Off The Deep End

New York Sen. Charles E. Schumer, a powerful member of the Democratic leadership, said Friday the Senate should not confirm another U.S. Supreme Court nominee under President Bush “except in extraordinary circumstances.”
“We should reverse the presumption of confirmation,” Schumer told the American Constitution Society convention in Washington. “The Supreme Court is dangerously out of balance. We cannot afford to see Justice Stevens replaced by another Roberts, or Justice Ginsburg by another Alito.”
Schumer said there were four lessons to be learned from Alito and Roberts: Confirmation hearings are meaningless, a nominee’s record should be weighed more heavily than rhetoric, “ideology matters” and “take the president at his word.”

Wild Thing's comment........

The GOP has never made ideology is an issue. The liberals did with Bork, Thomas, Alito, and Roberts. When will the GOP wake up? The Democrats want different rules when they are in power.

I have to wonder if it will come to the point where the citizens will have to demand a change....just like they did a 230 years ago.

Schumer is vicious, dishonest partisan scum. It was perfectly clear who Roberts and Alito are - the President nominates people he respects highly and the Senate confirms them.

The deliberate, cynical character assassination of Robert Bork was a threshhold moment, for me, when the Left began openely to wage unlimited warfare on conservatives and traditional America, using every low and dishonest technique to get their way, not just in politics but EVERYwhere.

Now they are dropping any pretense of following the constitution...if the presidents sends up a nomination, he gets an automatic rejection.

Bush is the manager--he gets to do the hiring of Supreme Court Justices. (and he didn't hire Ginsburg!) He does what he thinks best.
I'm sorry if the dummycraps have sour grapes.
We need those who will not "interpret" laws for their own pleasure or "misinterpret" the laws and cause fiascos (like emminent domain).
Schumer thinks he's God.
Are we due to get another Supreme Court Justice?
I'd rather have lawyers who go word for word and understand the laws, then someone who just skims the law and tries to interpret it and gets it wrong.

Scummer is a masterpiece of depravity.

Ever wonder why senators from New York are so powerful? Both Scummer and Hillary are only on their second term but seem to be the most powerful senators in Congress. Hillary had the DNC by the short arm when she was first lady. If she had walked out on Bill, she would have tubed his presidency. Her reward for "standing by her man" was a Senate Seat. Not any Senate Seat but a New York Seat. They could have offered her Arkansas, where she was a resident, but no, they gave her New York where New Yorkers are known for prostituting their Senate Seats. When Robert Kennedy from Massachusetts needed a Senate Seat, NY elected him.

The Democrats only believe in the Constitution when it serves their purpose. Schumer will never let what is legal, moral or correct stand in his way. He loves media attention and the leftist media will comply with his desires and needs. Like the Massachussets Kennedys, Schumer has a safe lifetime Senate seat in New York so we will hear from him forever.

It would be grand if Bush had the opportunity to make two more SCOTUS appointments. Of course, we would have to be wary that he did not attempt another Harriet Miers.

Supreme Court appointments are why it is so neccessary to elect a conservative president.

Just what do you think will happen if one of "The Gang of Four" dies??

Think "Weekend at Bernies".

Rick

If something were to happen to one of the '4' , think Democrat Meltdown, and if one of Bushes nominees was getting close (i.e., a good Conservative appointment) to confirmation, then think ...well ... apeshit is the only way to describe it. You would see a new definition of Un-glued.

I stand by a former assessment, this is a mirror reflection of those who elected Schumer as their senator. People who are willing to be subservient to the depravities of the Marxist rule of the Schumer - Clinton cabal. The first thing they'll try if they make the Whitehouse is to dismantle the Constitution, that is accomplished with Anarchist Judges in power.

New York has set a trend since RFK got elected Senator. Then Moynahan and Javitz. This was one of the reasons I left, Buffalo, to get away from that sorry mess of a state. And it has really gone down hill in the last 20 years. Taxes are out of sight and the jobs are leaving faster than a snow fall in December.

I don't miss that either.

Dubya will be positively remembered for appointing Alito and Roberts to the US Supreme Court, and for our tax-cuts and hitting the Taliban hard after 9-11-01's Attack On America.

Lynn I know what you mean, too many, far too many just want to interpret the law. Maybe I am wrong about this but to me the law is a word for word thing and not something to add in gray areas with various interpretations.

Bob that is interesting and your right they do have more power or are given it by the rest of them and the media.

Posted by: Wild Thing at July 29, 2007 12:26 AM

Tom, your right, that is so important to have a Conservative President, it effects so many things and this is one of the main reasons.

Posted by: Wild Thing at July 29, 2007 12:30 AM

Rick, "Weekend at Bernies" ...yep,it would be if they could get away with it.

Posted by: Wild Thing at July 29, 2007 12:33 AM

Jack they sure do want to dismantle the Constitution, and why oh why even the dems citizens can't see that or care about it I will never understand.

Posted by: Wild Thing at July 29, 2007 12:36 AM

Mark, good way to put it.

Everything the dems touch gets messed up, from laws, to taxes, jobs, wages, illegals and on and on.

Darth yes he did do good when it came to Alito and Roberts.
