Condi Rice Should End Her Occupation As Sec.of State

Secy. Rice: Israel Must End Occupation of 'West Bank'

(IsraelNN.com)

Speaking with Arabic-language Radio Sawa, based in Washington and Dubai, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice went further in her demands on Israel than President Bush did in his recent speech on Israel.

Rice, about to depart for the Middle East to prepare an upcoming international meeting of regional leaders, said that President Bush recently stated "very clearly that Israel's future will rest in Israel, in places like Galilee and in the Negev - and that the occupation of the West Bank will have to end, and a Palestinian state will need to be established."

In fact, however, in his recent speech, President Bush did not phrase this as a demand upon Israel, but rather cited Prime Minister Olmert as having "made clear that Israel's future lies in developing areas like the Negev and Galilee - not in continuing occupation of the West Bank. This is a reality that Prime Minister Sharon recognized, as well. So unauthorized outposts should be removed and settlement expansion ended."

Rice Sets New Standard
Pres. Bush also stopped short of saying Israel must withdraw from all of Judea and Samaria. Bush said rather that future Israel-PA negotiations must "lead to a territorial settlement, with mutually agreed borders reflecting previous lines and current realities, and mutually agreed adjustments."

By stating so clearly that the "the occupation of the West Bank will have to end," Rice has set a new standard for United States officials of her stature in opposition to Israel's presence in Judea and Samaria.

Secretary Rice did not deal with the question of what to do with the 240,000 Jews living in the non-annexed areas of Judea and Samaria (nor the roughly equal amount living in the outlying neighborhoods of Jerusalem beyond Israel's pre-1967 borders). Israel has not yet been able to solve the problems of the fewer than 10,000 Jews it evicted from Gaza two years ago; those Jews are still living in transient camps of temporary pre-fab houses, with no long-term housing or employment solutions in sight.

No Invitations Yet

Secretary Rice also told Radio Sawa that "no invitations have gone out yet" for the planned meeting. "I want to talk to our allies in the region and our friends in the region about how they see and what they would see to be a useful international meeting," she said. "[It] will be, as the President said, an opportunity to review our progress. It will be an opportunity to make commitments to support the Israelis and Palestinians in their discussions, in their future negotiations... The United States doesn't want Made-in-America solutions. We need the entire population of states that are devoted to the two-state solution to work with us. And so these will be very important consultations."

Wild Thing's comment........

Not a chance. How stupid would that be? What is she thinking? Bush et.al. seems to look more and more like Democrats everyday.

Condi The Clueless thinks if Israel surrenders more territory there will be peace in our time. That formula worked so well in Gaza....NOT. But the Secretary Of State wants to try it again, on the theory that repeating the same failed policy will lead to a different outcome this time around. In a word, her prescription is insane - and a recipe for Israel's demise.

Duncan Hunter said Israel must not withdraw from "one inch" of territory as part of an Arab peace accord. I agree!

Condoleeza Rice is nothing more than Colin Powell disguised in a skirt.

Is she going through menopause?
Her thinking lately has become clouded and strange.
Why would anyone ask the Israelites to give up their homeland to the enemy?
Unless there's some ulterior motive to help the Israelis and I don't see it.
It's like us when once we put the Indians on the reservations and then wanted that land back because of precious minerals, gold and oil found there.
Israel was given to the Israelis, period.
I do wish they could get along with the Palestinians , but that will never happen, even though they are the same people! (they come from two brothers.)

Genesis 12:1-3... Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Never turn against Israel.

In 1967, on the front page of Stars and Stripes was a map of the middle-east, Israel was surrounded, and the war had just started. A friend of mine a Jewish kid, told me not to worry the Jews would 'kick-ass', I said well they are completely surrounded, he said, don't matter. He was right.

Latter I remember reading what Golda Meir had said about the wars against the moslems. 'We won those wars against the moslems because we had a secret weapon, ... no alternative.'

Israel has its share of Liberals there but last year when Israel starting taking shelling they all but to a few pulled together. I think they need Netan yahu instead of that idiot Ohlmert, who was the reason for the lack of real success.

If Secretary Rice is abandoning Israel, then so too is the Bush administration, afterall she reflects their policy.

This is another huge mistake. Bush won't secure our Southern border and now he is promoting the same policy to Israel. By any other name this would be called suicide not foreign policy.

Let's not forget that Condi was mentored by the same person who was the mentor of Madeleine Albright and that she follwed the footsteps of her predecessor Colin Powell as usful tools of the United Nations. They all were primary functionaries of the UN and any tidbits of United States success were mere incidentals. I'd rather have the likes of Ramsey Clark in there than the truly deceptive motives shown by Condi, Clark makes no pretense of the fact that he prefers any despotic to a democratic leadership. Neither should we lose sight of Iran's charge that they will wipe Israel off the map, once nuclear armed it will only be a short time before they attempt the same upon the United States homeland. Abandoning Israel to appease the Muzzies? Vidkun Quisling never met a fascist he didn't like either.

There is no doubt in even the Caveman's mind that Israel giving up land only makes her situation worse. Therefore there must be some alternative scheme to Rice and the Bush Administration's demand that Israel make land concessions. I sure don't know what it is, but it is scary. There are too many apparent bumblings to GWB's terms in the White House for me to trust his judgement.

Bush 41 made so many apparent errors that later turned out to be disguised globalization shemes, that I can no longer trust Bush 43 as he certainly seems to have a mixed bag of conservatism and liberalism. Which is it at any given time?

Something is going on here in regards to Israel and I don't like what I see and smell on the surface. I think the most important item right now is for Israel to replace Olmert.

Lynn, honey--

I've been through menopause and my "thinking" was never THAT cloudy!

To think I once admired that woman. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Condi Rice's waving a white flag of defeat and surrender to the Palestinian terrorist organizations of Fatah and Hamas is no different than the Defeatocrats waving the white flag of defeat and surrender to al Qaeda in Iraq. Unfortunately, Israel's Ehud Olmert and his Kadima government are all to willing partners in this suicidal behaviour.

I know this is way off topic, but while watching Fox news, just to show how out of touch the media is, the announced that Igmar Bergman died.

On the bottom of the screen is their 'ticker', it said, Bill Walsh died.

To me, I want to know how many Superbowls Bergman won, and what did he do for America. Bill Walsh was all about winning, Again to me that what America is all about.

end of rant.

Jack that is so true. And for a long time now Condi has said one thing after the other that is against Israel. I am fed up with her completely.

Posted by: Wild Thing at July 30, 2007 11:59 PM
