The Salute That Spoke Volumes

"The photo was taken at the Armed Forces Day Parade in Torrance, California on May 20, 2006. My Father Darron S., Vietnam Veteran, was sitting on the curb enjoying the parade. As the young solider came upon us I noticed him looking at my Father's Vietnam Veteran hat. He silently stopped in front of my Father and stood there deadlocked on his eyes and stiffened into a salute. My Father immediately jumped up and forwarded this young soldier the same. They both held the salute for what seemed like a solid minute. There were no words spoken when my Father broke the salute."

Thank you Tom for sending this to me.

That is beautiful picture. One generation respecting another.

Thanks Tom, that's something that's been missing for decades and something even rarer on the left coast.

Thanks WT for posting this.

FYI - that picture came from a California newspaper and has nothing to do with me personally. That a newspaper would print this is a sign of hope that not all the news media is rabid anti-military.

Also, a very disproportionately high percentage of todays military are sons and daughters of vets and the mutual respect of one generation to another is wonderful.

HI Tom, thank you. That is amazing that the newpaper printed that. I hope the Veteran saw it when it was in the paper and got a copy of it. What a moment that would last a lifetime.

Thanks again Tom so much.
